LOAZZOLO

Late Harvest - Denominazione di Origine Controllata

VINE VARIETY
MOSCATO BIANCO OF CANELLI 100%

Our vineyard dates from 1948 and the Loazzolo Late Harvest is the highest expression of the Moscato grape. This wine is the result of a singular and unique vagary.
The grapes are harvested very late, between the last days of November up to the 8th of December, when the few remaining fruits are completely covered with the distinctive mould called Botritis Nobile.
Altitude 450 metres above sea level
South-Western facing slope with a 30% incline
Pruning system: Low Guyot
Average yield in hectolitres: 21 per hectare

PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY
When the remaining bunches of grapes in the vineyard are covered with Botritis Nobile and are the colour of golden straw they are slowly and carefully harvested.
Fermentation in small oak barrels (225 litres) follows this frugal harvest. Careful filtration controls the fermentation process over the next three years. A significant amount of the sugars arising from the over-ageing of the grapes are transformed into alcohol forming the LOAZZOLO.

TASTING NOTES
